75-year-old convicted child rapist jailed for raping daughter
Summary
A 75‑year‑old man, previously jailed in the UK for raping his step‑children, was convicted in Ireland for repeatedly raping his daughter. After being released in the mid‑1990s, he travelled to Asia, married, and later settled in Dublin where he and his wife had two daughters in 2003 and 2005. He began molesting the youngest daughter when she was six, escalating to oral rape when she was seven, and continued to rape her for the next two years. The abuse came to light in December 2013 when his terminally ill wife reported concerns to hospital staff. Gardaí discovered his prior convictions and that he had left the daughters unattended in a library. A search of his flat revealed passports in the daughters' names. He pleaded guilty to seven counts of sexual assault and four counts of oral rape between January 2012 and December 2013.
