Carpet replaced and knife missing from flat where killing took place, trial hears

Summary

During a murder trial, the resident of a flat where a killing occurred returned from holidays to find his meat knife missing and his carpet replaced. The case concerns Alan Harte, 33, charged with murdering his friend Peter Gunn, 28, on 4 January 2009 in Cabra Park, Cabra, Dublin. Roland Ziu, who allowed an old friend, Kastriot Boza, to stay in his flat while he was away, testified that upon his return he discovered the carpet had been changed and the meat knife was gone. Ziu said Boza claimed a girl had become drunk and ill in the flat, prompting the carpet change. Boza later testified that Harte stabbed Gunn in the flat after a beer gathering. Detective Superintendent Colin Fox noted Gunn's close family ties. The prosecution has closed its case before Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy and a jury of twelve.
