Summary
Shoaib Hamid, aged 44, pleaded guilty in the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to assault causing harm after a dispute over prayer etiquette outside the Fonthill Retail Park mosque in June 2015. He attacked an elderly man who had walked in front of a person praying, leading to a brief argument. Hamid then punched the man, striking him on the head and later using a carpet knife to hit him on the back of the head, causing cuts and a permanent scar.
