Summary

In a Special Criminal Court hearing, Ryan Glennon, aged 25 and resident of Macken Villas, Macken Street, Dublin, was found guilty of membership in the Irish Republican Army (IRA) on 13 May 2015. Glennon denied the charge. The court heard that Chief Superintendent Peter Kirwan had provided evidence that Glennon was a member of the IRA on the relevant date. Evidence presented included a search of a house in Courttown, County Wexford, where gardaí discovered rockets and explosive materials. Four rockets were located inside a water butt on a handcart, with Glennon's fingerprints on the cart. A tupperware container in the kitchen contained Semtex, a pair of gloves, and DNA matching Glennon. Surveillance footage showed Glennon at the Courttown house on 9 May 2014. The three‑judge panel, presided over by Justice Robert Eagar with Judges Sinead Ni Chulachain and James Faughnan, remanded Glennon in custody until 5 December, when he will be sentenced.
