Chinese national pleads guilty to killing man outside internet cafe

Summary

A Chinese national, Zhen Dong Zhao, 39, pleaded guilty to manslaughter for the killing of Noel Fegan outside his internet cafe on Wellington Quay on 20 May 2011. The plea was accepted by the State and a sentencing hearing is set for 5 December. Zhao had previously pleaded not guilty to murder but was convicted in 2012 and sentenced to life imprisonment; that conviction was later quashed after a retrial was ordered by the Court of Criminal Appeal for errors in the trial judge's explanation of provocation.
