Rockets and plastic explosives found in Wexford house, trial hears

Summary

During a Special Criminal Court hearing, Ryan Glennon, 25, of Dublin, pleaded not guilty to IRA membership. The prosecution presented evidence that a house in Courttown, Co. Wexford contained a large quantity of explosives linked to Glennon. Detective Garda Shane Curran examined items found on 13 May 2015, including a green water butt holding four improvised steel rockets, 75 g of Semtex, 4.8 kg of pyrotechnic powder, electric switches, detonators, battery clips, and circuit boards, all deemed components for an improvised explosive device. In a kitchen crate, fertilizer, gardening gloves, and a steel tube with holes were also found, again suggested for I.E.D. construction. Sergeant Eamon Ryan reported seeing Glennon and two others at Violet Hill park on 14 March 2015, an unusual gathering. The trial was set to resume on Tuesday morning.
