New trial date set for former Anglo executive

Summary

Tiarnan O'Mahoney, a former Chief Operations Officer of Anglo Irish Bank, was scheduled to stand trial on Monday, 19 October 2016, for charges of conspiring to conceal or alter bank accounts. He had previously been convicted in July 2015 on seven charges and sentenced to three years' imprisonment, but that conviction was quashed by the Court of Appeal in April 2016. The prosecution, led by Dominic McGinn SC, requested that the trial not be held concurrently with the ongoing trial of Sean FitzPatrick, and Judge Melanie Greally agreed, setting a new trial date for 2 October 2017. Tiarnan O'Mahoney pleaded not guilty.
