Security man sues An Post after tiger kidnapping of colleague's family
Summary
In October 2016, Jimmy Bishop, a 55‑year‑old An Post patrolman from Clondalkin, sued the company for failing to provide a safe system of work after the 2011 Tiger Kidnapping of Liam O'Sullivan's family. Bishop claimed he had no risk assessment or training for such an event and that An Post did not give him a safe place of work or adequate counselling. He said he used a code word to alert colleagues and the Gardai, but the company failed to respond appropriately. Bishop alleged that the company's lack of a comprehensive response plan left staff unsure of their roles. An Post denied the claims. The case was set to be heard by Mr Justice Raymond Fullam and was expected to last several days.
