'Forensic Casebook' found in home of Lunney accused, trial hears

The Special Criminal Court heard evidence on Tuesday that a forensic investigation textbook was discovered during a garda search of an accused man's Dublin apartment. Detective Garda Lisa Young told the court she found "The Forensic Casebook: The Science of Crime Scene Investigation" in the main bedroom of the residence belonging to one of four men charged in connection with the abduction and assault of businessman Kevin Lunney in September 2019. Defence counsel noted the book is readily available for purchase online. Four men, including one from Kilcogy, County Cavan, have pleaded not guilty to false imprisonment and intentionally causing serious harm to Mr Lunney at Drumbrade, Ballinagh. The court also heard evidence regarding the arrest of one accused, with his legal team challenging the lawfulness of the procedure. A Sports Direct supervisor provided testimony identifying clothing worn by individuals in CCTV footage recovered during the investigation. The trial before Mr Justice Tony Hunt continues.
