The High Court has authorised a receiver to pursue contempt of court proceedings against persons alleged to have breached trespass orders at a business park in Castlebar, County Mayo. The motion was brought by Ken Fennell, an insolvency practitioner with Deloitte, acting as receiver of the N5 Business Park at Moneen. The court heard that despite previous orders directing trespassers to vacate the site, caravans remain in occupation. Concerns were raised that Pope Francis's visit to Knock Shrine in late August could attract additional trespassers. The receiver has attempted to resolve the matter through dialogue and has engaged with An Garda Síochána without success. Health and safety risks were cited, with allegations of damage to the property and burning of rubbish on site. Justice Caroline Costello granted permission to serve short notice of attachment and committal proceedings on an ex-parte basis. The matter has been adjourned to the following week.
