The Deputy State Pathologist told the Central Criminal Court that a 20-year-old man died from a gunshot wound to the head during a trial hearing in Dublin. Three men, aged 21, have pleaded not guilty to murdering Jamie Lindsay at Coney Green, Athy, County Kildare on 6 April 2013. Dr Michael Curtis gave evidence that the deceased sustained a fatal shot to the right eye at close range, with extensive skull fractures. One of the accused also faces separate charges relating to possession of a sawn-off shotgun and ammunition. The pathologist noted the victim had consumed significant quantities of alcohol and cannabis prior to his death. The court heard evidence that the deceased had a history of serious injuries. The trial, presided over by Mr Justice Garrett Sheehan, continues before a jury at the Central Criminal Court.
