Legal aid for Hardy Buck

An actor with an address in Swinford, County Mayo, was granted free legal aid at Dublin District Court today following an application based on his statement of means. The 30-year-old faces three assault charges arising from an incident at a public house on Dorset Street in Dublin on 9 October last year. He is accused of assaulting one man and causing harm to two others under the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act. No plea has yet been entered. Judge Alan Mitchell heard that directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions remain outstanding, delayed by technical difficulties with CCTV evidence review. The DPP's directions will determine whether the case proceeds at District Court or Circuit Court level. Medical reports are also awaited. The defendant, who is on bail, was remanded to appear again next month. The judge approved the legal aid application after considering the applicant's financial circumstances, including bank statements and possession of €1,500 in cash attributed to prior work and money held for others.
