Outcome: Passing sentence this week, Judge Eoin Garavan said there had been 'some element of provocation' and that Lawrence was not the only person who was 'misbehaving and out of control'. 'Certainly they were engaging in verbals and there were blows thrown,' said the judge, adding that the evidence then became complicated and it was not known whether the bottle was flung directly into Mr McCarron's face or whether it had bounced off something else before hitting the victim. Lawrence was sentenced to two years and three months in prison, with eleven months suspended for two years.
