Money mule avoids jail for laundering €50k

Outcome: At a sentence hearing last November, Judge Martin Nolan said the court has been dealing with a lot of similar cases of young people with no prior criminal records getting involved in money laundering. "This epidemic is going to have to stop somehow," Judge Nolan said. "If that means young people go to jail to stop it, those young people are going to have to go to jail." The judge said he would not jail O'Rourke on that occasion. He confirmed that sentence today after the Probation Service confirmed O'Rourke was suitable for community service.
