Man sentenced to 8 years for violent sexual assault on teenager fails in Supreme Court bid

Outcome: Noel Holland (aged 40), with a last address at Clarkes Flats, Main Street, Templemore, was sentenced to eight years by Mr Justice Paul Carney at the Central Criminal Court after he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the then 18-year-old at his home on February 1, 2009. The point of law related to the calculation of the amount of a prison sentence convicted sex offenders must serve, when a period of post release supervision is imposed, after part of their sentence is suspended.
