Outcome: Convicted; Raymond Shorten, who was jailed earlier this week for the rape of a seven year old girl, has been told that he will spend a total of 30 years in prison for this offence and the "gross betrayal" of separately raping two young female passengers in his taxi. He ordered that the sentence imposed today in relation to these 2022 offences should run consecutive to a 13-year sentence imposed on Shorten on Monday for the rape and sexual assault of a seven-year-old girl in 2012.
