Asylum seeker had UK conviction for sex assault before rape and attacks on women here
Stage: Sentence
Plea: Guilty
Outcome: Tayyab Salah Uddin, who was today jailed for 10 years, had sought asylum in Ireland due to his appearance as a result of ocular albinism, which "set him apart" and caused him to be "bullied and ostracised." Uddin (31) acted in "predatory manner" towards the two women, who were alone and intoxicated in a town centre after becoming separated from their friends, and had put his hands around his first victim's neck until she was unable to breathe. He imposed consecutive sentences totalling 10 years and ordered post-release supervision.
