Probation report ordered for Indian national who tried to abduct boy (5)
In a Dublin Circuit Criminal Court hearing, a judge ordered Probation Services to assess Visak Rajesh Leela, a 26‑year‑old Indian national, after he pleaded guilty to attempting to abduct a five‑year‑old boy outside an apartment building in September. The boy's older sister pushed Leela away and the children fled. Gardaí footage showed Leela signalling to the boy, running after him, and pulling him toward the door before the sister pushed him back into bushes. Leela claimed he was intoxicated, had no memory of the incident, and suggested he might have known the children. He had attended a party at the complex, returned after a call, and was not visibly intoxicated at the time of the incident. The judge adjourned the case to 28 April, remanded Leela on bail, and directed a Probation Services report to evaluate his risk of re‑offending.
