Regency Hotel trial further adjourned
The trial of Patrick Hutch, accused of murdering David Byrne at the Regency Hotel, was adjourned until September to allow the court to review an interim report on the death of Detective Superintendent Colm Fox and to analyse electronic data. The adjournment also gives the defence time to read the report. The Special Criminal Court had previously said the final report would be ready by the end of September. Fox was found dead on 10 February in his office at Ballymun Garda Station; his firearm was recovered and foul play was not suspected. Hutch, 25, pleaded not guilty and denies owning three AK‑47 rifles. The court, presided over by Justice Tony Hunt, remanded Hutch in custody until the case is listed again in September, marking the seventh adjournment. The prosecution has compiled extensive documentation and witness statements, but outstanding matters remain regarding the mobile phone, two USB devices and a laptop used in the inquiry.
