In December 2017, Christopher Warburton, 26, drove a red quad bike in a dangerous chase through Dublin city traffic, repeatedly ignoring police signals and driving on the wrong side of the road. He accelerated toward Donard Estate, forced an oncoming vehicle to brake, and continued on Nephin Road, overtaking a van and two cars, causing one to brake suddenly. At the Cabra gate of Phoenix Park, the quad bike lost power; Warburton jumped off and struggled with an unmarked Garda car. He then attempted to jump over a wall, kicked a Garda, and entered the grounds of Áras an Uachtaráin, where a mounted police officer apprehended him. A month later, he punched an elderly, intoxicated man from behind, an act recorded on video. Warburton pleaded guilty to endangerment and assault causing harm, was sentenced to four years and nine months in prison, with nine months suspended on condition of rehabilitation, and was banned from driving for three years.

Anthony and Kathleen Hogan of Mullica Lower, Donard, Dunlavin, Co Wicklow, have brought High Court proceedings against Kevin Lawlor Senior and his son Kevin Junior, also of Mullica Lower, Donard, Dunlavin. The Hogans claim that a JCB allegedly destroyed a pump house on the Lawlor property in September, leaving their home without running water. They allege that Mr Lawlor Senior demolished the pump house and has since erected a steel fence blocking access to the site, preventing the Hogans from restoring water. The Hogans say Mr Lawlor Senior has been intoxicated and aggressive, threatening them and interfering with workers. They seek injunctions to stop harassment, allow access to the property and right of way, and to enable the restoration of the well and pump house. Mr Justice Tony O'Connor granted Mr Lupton permission to serve short‑notice proceedings on the Lawlors, with the matter adjourned to next week's sitting.

The High Court will decide next week on an application to jail solicitor John Condon for alleged contempt of a court order to pay €23,000 to the estates of two deceased siblings from County Wicklow. The executor, Nikolaus David Sean Boulting, claims Condon failed to comply with the order and retained estate monies, leading to proceedings to recover the funds. Condon, who has practiced for over 30 years, denies wrongdoing and argues the cheque for the owed amount was dishonoured by the bank, not by him. He also contends that additional fees of €36,000 were not due. Condon has requested an extension to appeal the payment order, but the executor's counsel says no extension was granted. Mr Justice Nicholas Kearns has reserved his decision, noting the seriousness of the matter and that he has never before committed a practising solicitor to prison for contempt.
