A permanent ban will remain in place restraining a Tipperary farmer from entering lands that had been in his family for decades but were sold by receivers in 2022 for €1.5M to US-based businessman Maurice Regan. Farmer Patrick Heffernan had his application dismissed after he asked for an extension of time to appeal a ruling by the Circuit Court in Tipperary barring him from attending or trespassing on the 83 hectares of land. The application came before the Civil Court of Appeal after Mr Heffernan challenged an order of the Deputy Master made in October 2025 refusing to extend time for a notice of appeal. Ms Justice Eileen Roberts said the Circuit Court order in January 2025 was made on an unopposed basis in the absence of Mr Heffernan, who resides next to the lands near Fethard, Co Tipperary. Ms Justice Roberts said Mr Heffernan had mortgaged the land to AIB Bank and ACC Bank to secure borrowings.

Sean McCarthy, aged in his 60s, lost over €26,000 when a fraudulent email replaced a legitimate invoice from Lauragh Construction, leading him to transfer money to a scammer's account. The fraud involved two young men, Jack Ward (22) and Kelvin Kleinovis (21), who acted as money mules. Ward transferred €9,700 to his account and €9,600 to a third man, while Kleinovis received €26,400 and later transferred €9,700 to Ward. Gardaí traced the transactions, and the bank returned €16,580, leaving McCarthy still short €9,820. McCarthy expressed that the loss delayed his holiday‑home project and that he and his wife no longer trust electronic transfers. Ward was sentenced to an eight‑month prison term, suspended, and Kleinovis received a two‑year term, also suspended, after expressing remorse and attempting restitution. The court noted that neither man was suspected of setting up the bogus email. Jack Ward pleaded guilty. Kelvin Kleinovis pleaded guilty.

Maurice Power, 33, of Kilmoyler, Cahir, was found guilty of dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm to Mrs Fiona O'Connell on 12 November 2012. He was driving three times over the legal limit, without insurance, and while disqualified. The incident occurred at about 5 a.m. on the Fethard Road, Co. Tipperary, when Power's vehicle lost control, crossed a boundary wall and carried Mrs O'Connell into an institution's grounds. She suffered severe injuries, including a leg that required amputation after 14 operations, and spent four months in hospital. Power was sentenced by Judge Thomas Teehan on 31 July 2013 to seven years' imprisonment, with the final 12 months suspended, and a 25‑year driving disqualification. He appealed the sentence, arguing the judge had over‑penalised him and ignored mitigating factors. Judge Garrett Sheehan, with Justices George Birmingham and Alan Mahon, dismissed the appeal, stating the sentence was appropriate given the aggravating circumstances and the victim's injuries.
