Man charged in connection with 200K drugs seizure
A 58‑year‑old construction worker, Edward Winston of Montpelier Park, Dublin 7, was remanded in custody after being charged with unlawful possession of cannabis, cocaine and heroin, and possessing the drugs with intent to supply, following the seizure of about €200,000 worth of drugs in Dublin and Kildare. Detectives from the Garda National Drugs Unit seized cannabis at Ryebrook Business Park, Leixlip, and later recovered cocaine and heroin in Finglas, Dublin. Winston made no reply to the charges at Leixlip Garda station. Judge Ann Watkin noted that he was willing to stand bail but required time to meet the €30,000 surety condition. He was remanded to appear at Cloverhill District Court on 3 December. The operation also recovered over 250 rounds of ammunition and a double‑barrelled sawn‑off shotgun. A 20‑year‑old man arrested in the same operation was released without charge, and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
