Brian Fitzpatrick, a senior executive at Bocomm Aviation Leasing Ireland, settled a High Court dispute with his employer over a claim that the company demanded he stop working from home and instead work from its Dublin office several days a week. Fitzpatrick, who had been working remotely from his home in Danganbrack, Quin, Co Clare for years, said the company had never objected to this arrangement before the alleged demand. He also alleged that the company wrongfully refused to pay him his six‑figure annual bonus. Fitzpatrick sought an injunction to prevent the employer from imposing sanctions, to halt a purported investigation, and to stop interference with his employment terms, as well as an order for full payment of salary and benefits. The case, first heard in February, was adjourned repeatedly for settlement talks.

Brian Fitzpatrick, a senior Vice President at Bocomm Aviation Leasing Ireland, has filed High Court proceedings against his employer after it demanded he work several days a week from its Dublin office instead of working remotely from his home in Danganbrack, Quin, Co Clare. Fitzpatrick says the company had no prior issue with his remote work and that the demand arose several months ago. He claims the company initiated a disciplinary process in August over his refusal to work from Dublin, labeling it "completely out of the blue." Fitzpatrick also alleges the company wrongfully withheld his annual bonus, generally over €200,000, and has been investigating him over an alleged historical expenses claim. He seeks an injunction to prevent sanctions, to halt the investigation, and to compel payment of salary, benefits, and the bonus. Mr Justice Rory Mulchay granted Fitzpatrick permission to serve short‑notice injunction proceedings, with the case set to return later this week.

Tony McInerney, a 27‑year‑old drug dealer from Ennis, was sentenced to 12 years in prison in May 2021 for possession of cocaine for sale and for possessing €4,500 in proceeds of crime. The judge imposed an 11‑year term for the drug offence and a three‑year term for the cash offence, with the final two years of the cash sentence suspended. McInerney was caught "red‑handed" at a property in Kilfilum where he was mixing cocaine, wearing orange gloves and holding a bag of the drug. Gardaí seized mixing agents, a weighing scale, a knife, a blender, €2.5K in cash and an estimated €50K worth of cocaine. In September 2020, he pleaded guilty to both charges. On appeal, the Court of Appeal quashed the original sentence and re‑sentenced him to a total of 10 years' imprisonment, with no portion of either sentence suspended, back‑dated to the date of his first arrest.
